Introduction

Carthage Veterinary Service (CVS) is pleased to provide multiple opportunities to conduct scientific research in a commercial swine background.

Background

CVS is dedicated to providing outstanding veterinary service by combining new science with production and health.  With nine Veterinarians, one Nutritionist, and a Director of Swine Research, CVS has a strong foundation to provide outstanding opportunities to conduct veterinary and production research trials.

In addition, Innovative Swine Solutions (ISS) has facilities available to perform in-depth nutrition research.

Veterinary/Production Research

CVS provides the following opportunities:

  • Use of animals on a farrow to wean sow farm
  • Agrosoft records to follow research animals
  • Routine diagnostic analysis
  • Dedicated personnel
  • Capabilities to follow weaned pigs into grow/finish sites

Nutrition Research

ISS provides state of the art sow research located within a 6,400 sow farrow to wean facility.  Here, the goals to research are the following:

  • Provide answers to production, profitability, and environmental issues.
  • Understand potential parity differences.
  • Understand potential economic and management implications of the results.

In addition, ISS is teaming up with PorkTech, LLC to perform grow-finish research in both nursery and wean to finish facilities.
